What is the difference between WSQ courses and Skillsfuture courses?

Let’s start with the similarities.  For both courses, you are able to use the skilsfuture $500 credit to pay for the course fees.  WSQ courses are awarded Statement of Attainment but not all skillsfuture courses has SOA.

I'm 42 year old Singaporean, is there a special subsidy for me?

If you are 40years and above, you qualify for the SkillsFuture Mid Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) which supports and encourages lifelong learning.  Course subsidy for SSG-supported courses is 90% of the course fees.

I own a small business and would like to send my employees for training. Is there any special subsidy?

The Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS) offers support for SMEs to send their employees for training.  The funding includes

1. SMEs enjoy SkillsFuture Funding of up to 90% of course fees for company sponsored employees

2. SMEs can claim Enhanced Absentee Payroll funding of 80% of basic hourly salary capped at $7.50 per hour.

I am below 30 years old, is there any fund I can use to upgrade myself?

If you are below 30 years and below, you can use your PSEA fund to pay for the approved fees and charges of approved PSEA courses e.g. WSQ courses.  In addition, if you are 25 years and above, you will also receive the $500 skillsfuture credit to upskill yourself. 

What is the Workfare Training Support (WTS)?

From July 2020 the Workfare Training Support (WTS) will be replaced by the Workfare Skills Support (WSS). Singaporeans above 35 years old and earn below $2,300 will qualify and will receive training allowance of $6.00 / hour as well as Training Commitment Award (TCA).

What is the difference between WSQ and Non-WSQ courses?

WSQ courses are managed under the WSQ framework and must adhere strictly to the course syllabus and learners are required to complete the assessment.  Non-WSQ courses are courses which are contextualized by the client and can be scoped according to what is the learning needs.  It offers flexibility to the client who is clear about their needs.
